The sound of Jimmy’s Mother Esther sobbing awakens Jimmy. His Father Red is in jail. At school Jimmy learns David and Cathy have died mysteriously. Later, the factory where Jimmy and Red worked has burned to the ground. Then Jimmy finds Marie in the arms of another. The impact of all this is evident in The Saturday and Sunday Blues. Jimmy resigns himself to his Father’s view “life is a cruel joke, barely worth living”.
You've got everything to loose, when you get the Saturday and Sunday blues. I said, you've got everything to loose, when you get the Saturday and Sunday blues. If hard luck and troubles hit you on Friday, you got the Saturday and Sunday blues.
Friday morning I got up, why not I had nothin' to loose. I went to have some coffee, it had all been used. So I went to take a shower, only cold water came through. I'm afraid to start my car, I’ve got the Saturday and Sunday blues. By the time I got to work, my job was nowhere to be found, the building I worked in had burned to the ground. You've got everything to loose, when you get the Saturday and Sunday blues.
So I decided to go back home, found my woman with another man. Let me tell you people they weren’t just holding hands. You got everything to loose, when you've got the Saturday and Sunday blues, Saturday and Sunday blues. You'll know you've lost it all, when you get the Saturday and Sunday blues. I said when you've lost everything there is to loose, you've got the Saturday and Sunday blues.
